Study: Thrips palmi transcriptome in response to groundnut bud necrosis virus
show Abstracthide Abstract
Thrips palmi (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) is the predominant tospovirus vector in the Asia-Pacific region and transmits groundnut bud necrosis virus (GBNV, family Tospoviridae, order Bunyavirales) in a persistent-propagative manner. GBNV causes up to 90 percent yield losses in groundnut, tomato, and potato. Understanding the molecular interactions between thrips and GBNV and interrupting the interrelationship is a promising approach for the management of the virus-vector complex. The comparative transcriptome of T. palmi in response to GBNV infection showed the differentially expressed transcripts that are associated with virus transmission.
